  • We are looking for a highly motivated Data Analytics specialist to join our Operations (OPS) domain team at the Schiphol Group. In this role, you will work closely with several operational departments to accelerate the data-drivenness of their processes.

  • The Data & Analytics team oversees the strategic use of AI, data and applied data science across the Schiphol Group to identify growth opportunities and areas for innovation with new data products and services.
Connecting your world

As Data Analyst you will work on a great diversity of datasets and data problems. In this role your key tasks are to:

  • Define KPIs in the aircraft turnaround process with the business. Investigate if required data is available and create the logic to measure the KPI.
  • Explore and analyze new datasets with flight information to determine its potential value for our data solutions.  
  • Design and build prototypes of dashboards for the business with insights into potential capacity bottlenecks at airside or terminal processes.
  • Use historical data to challenge existing norm values and thresholds applied by the business in their decision-making.

Many of the use-cases you’ll work on have a direct effect on the Airport, its operations and its passengers. When you look out of the window from your workplace, you’ll see your work in action. With Operations you’ll also have the opportunity to have a very hands-on experience to improve the passenger-, baggage- and aircraft flow at the airport.

You've got this

In this role you can distinguish between main and secondary issues, make connections. Also, you always come up with solutions, new ideas. In addition to this you also have:

  • A MSc in a relevant field such as computer science, mathematics, science, statistics, data science or with a strong quantitative component.
  • Good understanding of data technology, including data engineering, management, dashboarding, analytics, AI and statistic principles.
  • Ability to tell compelling stories where you can visualise data and present outcomes effectively.
  • A keen interest in the aviation sector and airport complexity.
  • Proficient in the English language, and preferably knowledge of Dutch.
  • Performance management concepts, like KPI trees and business performance conversations.
  • Experience in working with data and the tools needed to do so, preferably Python and Spark.
  • 3+ years of experience with data, preferably through Analytics.

  • A salary ranging from € 4,594,- and € 6,374,- based on 36 hours (scale 12).

About the team

The DnA team leverages AI, data, and applied data science to uncover growth opportunities and spearhead innovation across the group. We create new data products and services, uphold data governance and quality standards, maintain a centralized business intelligence function, and collaborate with IT to build a robust data infrastructure for the future. 

As a data analyst, you will work closely with business stakeholders and colleagues at the DnA department (data scientists, data engineers and BI developers) to:  

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their problems and identify opportunities for using data to drive business outcomes.  
  • Protype dashboards, reports, and other data visualization aids to support decision-making on a one-off basis or to help productionize them.  
  • Conduct exploratory data analyses to identify patterns and trends in large data sets  
  • Design and implement experiments along with the business to test hypotheses and evaluate the effectiveness of different concepts.  
  • Translate business problems into data-based solutions using your expertise in Python and data visualization tools.
